PM Welcomes EU Representatives and Consuls, Discusses Strengthening Relations, Aspires EU States' Recognition of the State of Palestine

The Prime Minister of the State of Palestine, Dr. Mohammed Shtayyeh, welcomed the European Union's representative in Palestine, Sven Kühn von Burgsdorff and several other consuls and representatives of European Union States at his office in Ramallah Wednesday.
Dr. Shtayyeh stressed the importance of strengthening relations between Palestine and the European Union States at the highest levels and culminating them by recognizing the State of Palestine to preserve the two-state solution.
The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the resumption of European support for Palestine unconditionally, emphasizing that Europe has a consistent position towards Palestine under all circumstances, based on its belief in the values of peace, justice, and the defense of human rights.
His Excellency reiterated his calls for the EU to bring pressure to bear on Israel to allow elections to be held in the city of Jerusalem in accordance with the reached agreements, as well as to halt Israel's unilateral actions, including land seizure to expand illegal settlement construction, daily killings and arrests of Palestinian people and incursions into Palestinian areas and the Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
The Prime Minister called on Europe to play an active role in creating a political path towards ending the occupation and establishing a Palestinian State on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital. Furthermore, he discussed with the delegation the strengthening of cooperation at all levels in consultation and in line with Palestine's development agenda and priorities.
