Palestinian Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria; Bilateral Relations, Austria's Belief in the Two-State Solution and its Recognition of the State of Palestine

 

 

Ramallah, Tuesday, April 26, 2022 -

 

Tuesday, at his office in Ramallah, Dr. Shtayyeh discussed bilateral relations and the latest political developments with Alexander Schallenberg, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Astrid Finn, the Austrian Representative to Palestine, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad al-Maliki.

His Excellency briefed the Austrian Foreign Minister on the recent developments in the Palestinian situation, Israeli practices, continued illegal settlement expansion, demolition of houses, land seizure, Judaization of Jerusalem, and daily break-ins, which are increasing the state of tension and destroying the two-state solution.

Dr. Shtayyeh called on Austria to reflect its faith in the two-state solution by recognizing the State of Palestine. Furthermore, he stated that failing to preserve the two-state solution means allowing the state of apartheid and segregation we are experiencing today, documented by several reports from prominent international institutions.

 

"The current challenging economic and financial situation caused by the Israeli occupation's practices, its domination over Palestinian resources, and the ongoing iniquitous Israeli deductions from Palestinian funds, in addition to the implications of the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine"

 

The Prime Minister stated before concluding by expressing his gratitude for Austria’s support in various areas and its position in support of the rights of the Palestinian people, calling for enhanced cooperation in vocational training and supporting the University of Nablus for Vocational and Technical Education.
