Shtayyeh: Germany will send 50 ventilators, and most of those machines will be sent to Hebron

“We have postponed the scholastic year of 2020/2021, so we monitor the curve of the Coronavirus pandemic and where it will head.

Shtayyeh: We approached the United Nations to help in receiving the Chinese and the Saudi medical grants.

Ramallah – the Prime Minister’s Office: H.E. the Prime Minister, Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh, said that: “The health status in all governorates is difficult due to the Coronavirus pandemic outbreak. There are expectations that the situation will deteriorate even more during the winter.  According to those expectations, we have postponed the scholastic year for school students until September 6th, so we can observe the curve of the outbreak and where it is going.”

This was during a meeting, in his office, with representatives of Fateh Movement and different actors of civil society of Hebron, in the presence of Minister of Justice, H.E. Mohammad Shalaldeh and the Minister of Telecom. and IT, H.E. Issaq Sader.

The Delegation briefed H.E. Prime Minister on the situation in Hebron Governorate, especially the health status with the increasing spread of the Coronavirus, in addition to some of the most important obstacles and the needs of the Governorate in this regards.

Shtayyeh also extended sincere regards of H.E. President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) to the delegation and to the people of Hebron Governorate, presenting the efforts made by the government to face the Coronavirus crisis, especially in Hebron, and the fulfillment of most of its needs; most importantly the commencement of hiring 100 medical staff and providing cars and ambulances for them.

H.E. Prime Minister also explained that “In light of the stoppage of the security coordination with the Israeli side, we have approached the United Nations to help in receiving the Chinese and Saudi medical grants, which include medical equipment. Also, Germany will send us 50 ventilators in the nearest time, where we will send the majority of them to Hebron.”

The Prime Minister confirmed that “The biggest challenge that we are facing in this crisis is that citizens are not substantially committed to the public safety conditions.” He called upon all citizens to the necessity of abiding by those measures in order to control the virus and stop its spread.
