Shtayyeh discusses with the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions a number of issues in light of the Coronavirus crisis


 H.E. the Prime Minister, Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh met today, Wednesday, in his office, the Secretary General of the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions, Mr. Shaher Saad, where they discussed a number of issues that interest workers, whether those who are working in the Palestinian territories or inside Israel in light of the Coronavirus crisis.


Furthermore, the Prime Minister was informed by the Union’s Secretary General on the efforts made from their side in addition to the government’s efforts in association with emergency committees in the borders and crossings regions with Israel for testing workers for any coronavirus infection signs; in light of this national battle that all the Palestinian community bodies and forces are participating in it to fight the coronavirus outbreak.


During the meeting, Mr. Saad announced that the Union is providing an amount of (ILS 5 million) for the Workers’ Fund, in which the government contributes too. This is in addition to providing an amount of (ILS 1.5 million) in form of food supplies packages that will be distributed in the governorates.


Accordingly, the Prime Minister thanked the Union’s Secretary General and the administrative commission for their constant efforts in defending the rights and compensations of the workers as well as their persistent keenness to providing support for those who became unemployed persons during the emergency.
