Minister of Health Introduces the Emergency Plans (A), (B) and (C) to the Cabinet

H.E. the Prime Minister Praises the National and Popular Efforts for Supporting the Government in its Fight against Coronavirus

The Cabinet Approves Medicines Procurement for the Ministry of Health and the Military Medical Services

 

Ramallah – H.E. the Prime Minister, Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh, at beginning of the Council of Ministers’ weekly session, which was held in Ramallah on Monday morning, praised the national and popular efforts made by the popular bodies, institutions and organizations, in addition to municipalities and employees, national work fractions, for supporting the Palestinian Security Forces in implementing the preventive measures and procedures in order to protect our people from the danger of the Coronavirus outbreak, and to reduce its spread. He, also, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the citizens for their trust in the government’s crisis management through proactive steps, according to two opinion polls issued by Arab World for Research and Development (AWRAD) and Jerusalem Media and Communications Centre (JMCC) few days ago.

H.E. the Prime Ministers also praised, once again, the great role the security forces are playing, in addition to the exceptional efforts they made to close all the gaps that might coronavirus pandemic leak through, as well as sending out a bright picture for the security forces members spread on checkpoints in all the Governorates, to implement the preventive measures and guard the people’s safety and protect them from the danger of the pandemic outbreak.

Moreover, H.E. the Prime Minister thanked and praised the medical staff and nurses, in addition to all Ministry of Health (MoH) employees for their commendable efforts made for providing protection for citizens against the danger of the coronavirus outbreak. Hence, he called upon all citizens to stay home in order to protect themselves, their families and their people. He also urged our Palestinian workers, whom are expected to come home in the coming few days, to put them in home quarantine. Accordingly, this commitment might reduce the burdens of the Palestinian security forces, and medical and economic authorities in their fight against the coronavirus which is crossing the borders.

Consequently, the Cabinet listened to a detailed report represented by the Minister of Health on the development of the pandemic status in Palestine, in addition to the emergency plans (A), (B) and (C), that were prepared by MoH to reduce the spread of the pandemic and mitigate its effects throughout three scenarios of its spread.

Also, the Minister of Finance and Planning presented a report on the financial and economic situations in light of decline of revenues level, in addition to the Ministry's plan to deal with the current crisis in the upcoming months in light of the recession continues that affects the global economy, and the government financial needs in the next month.

The Minister of Economy also provided a report confirming the availability of food supplies in adequate quantities for a good period of times. Thus, he pointed out the Ministry of National Economy efforts made in cooperation with the security forces to monitor and find all those who violate through raising the prices and whatever harms to consumer’s interest. 

Accordingly, the Cabinet also listened to a report provided by the Minister of Foreign Affairs on our people’s health conditions in Diaspora, as well as the efforts made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Palestinian embassies in around one hundred countries around the world, in order to communicate with our communities in those countries and check on their health conditions in addition to providing help and aid to our students around the world.

The Cabinet also condemned the arrest of both: Minister of Jerusalem Affairs, Eng. Fadi Al-Hidmi and the Governor of Jerusalem, Mr. Adnan Ghaith, by the Israeli occupation forces, in order to stop them from performing their duties to protect the citizens in the Holy City from the coronavirus outbreak. Thus, H.E. the Prime Minister delegated the Minister of Foreign Affairs to follow up this case with the international and rights bodies.

The Cabinet made several decrees, of which the following are the most important:

  • 1-The adoption of the Single Sign On (SSO) for My-Government Application, which is the main portal for all citizens to access and receive all government services safely.
  • 2-The adoption of the measures provided by the Ministry of Education to improve the outputs of the Tawjihi stage – Technology Branch to preserve the best interest of the students after graduation.
  • 3-Approval of the medicines procurement for the Ministry of Health and Military Medical Services.
  • 4-Referring several laws and regulations to the relevant bodies to be studied.
