Prime Minister: The American plan is nothing more than a memorandum of understanding between Netanyahu and Trump

Prime Minister Dr. Muhammad Shtayyah “The US President Donald Trump’s plan is very dangerous because it deals with a model based on trying to defeat the Palestinians to surrender and then acquiesce,” stressing that “we will not be defeated, surrendered or accepted by any initiative that does not achieve the minimum level of justice for our people.”

This came during a symposium on Palestine within the works of the 56th session of the Munich Security Conference, today, Sunday, with the participation of the Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and the Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi, led by the researcher Daniel Levy, and the presence of a number of actors and those interested in political affairs

The Prime Minister stressed that "the implementation of the plan began, before its announcement, to transfer the US embassy to Jerusalem, recognize Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel, and suspend all aid to UNRWA, as well as stop funding to the Palestinian government."

He added: "The American proposal is not for negotiation, but for implementation. It gave the Israelis the right to annex the Palestinian rivers, Jerusalem and other areas immediately, as yesterday an American-Israeli committee was formed to finalize the annexation maps."

He continued: "This plan is nothing more than a memorandum of understanding between Netanyahu and Trump. We can never call it a peace plan, which is part of the two campaigns for them, especially when we talk about the timing of announcing it."

Shtayyeh said: "The plan gives the Israeli side to implement what it got on the plan immediately, while the Palestinian side must work to be eligible for that, within four years and under conditions. We must accept Israel as a Jewish state, and that our behavior is good according to Israeli standards, and we must recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. ".

He continued: "What Trump is offering is a sovereign entity that is not connected to the parties and does not include Jerusalem or refugees. And 720 thousand settlers remain in our lands living in 221 settlements. The plan also wants to annex 40% of the Palestinian lands and annex about two thousand square kilometers in exchange for compensation for a thousand A square kilometer of the Negev desert on the border with Egypt, which are areas previously used by Israel as landfill for nuclear waste. "

The Prime Minister stressed: "This plan does not provide more than Bantustans, as the Palestinians are isolated on islands that are not connected to each other, connected by tunnels or bridges that Israel can close at any time."

On the economic aspect of the American plan, Shtayyeh stressed that "the money in the proposal is not intended to support the political track, but rather to trade policy for money, which is simply a price for concession."

Shtayyeh added: "The Palestinians are united in rejecting this plan, as well as the Arabs who clearly rejected it at the summit of foreign ministers, as well as Islamic countries, the African Union, most European countries and Jewish institutions in the United States, members of Congress and the US Senate, all of them rejected this plan."

He stressed: "Trump has no international partner, neither in Europe nor the Arab world nor Palestine. Trump's plan was born dead and will be buried soon."

Shtayyeh said: "Bilateral negotiations have failed as a model for solving the Palestinian issue, and we must move from bilateral to multi, and for international law to be a reference for this process as well as United Nations resolutions," calling for the creation of an international coalition to protect the two-state solution, which has international consensus.

He continued: "I call on Europe to seriously respond to the Trump initiative, and that the foreign ministers' meeting come out tomorrow with a clear rejection of this proposal, and fill the void created by the US administration with its total bias towards Israel by holding an international conference based on the legitimacy of the state for Palestine."

Shtayyeh called for recognition of the Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital, in response to Israeli measures to annex parts of the Palestinian territories.

He also called for focusing on supporting and maintaining UNRWA in the face of American attempts to dry up its financial resources, in order to remove the refugee issue from prolonged negotiations.

On the other hand, Shtayyeh called on the executive heads and the heads of the councils of companies operating in the settlements, based on the record recently published by the Human Rights Council, to take this warning seriously, as they will be legally responsible for all the illegal steps taken by these companies in the occupied Palestinian territories.

He continued: "As we decided to gradually dismantle the colonial dependency imposed on us by the fact that Palestine is under occupation, we are trying to succeed at the micro level in light of the failure at the comprehensive political level."

Shtayyeh concluded by saying: "What we want is very simple: ending the occupation, establishing our independent state on the 1967 borders, which is only 22% of historic Palestine, this is a historic settlement accepted by the Palestinians, and they are still until now."

For his part, Aboul Gheit said: "Some Arab countries have recently been preoccupied with their internal problems, but this did not change the fact that the Palestinian issue is still the main issue of the Arabs. We heard many Israelis that the Arabs are giving up on the Palestinian issue, this did not happen and will not happen, and in The time the Palestinians will decide a decision in their case will put every Arab behind them. "

He added: "The moment the Palestinians said we reject the plan, everyone supported them and this matter will continue, we rejected it because the Palestinians rejected it, and because it is simply a document of defeat and no more, and the Palestinians are not defeated despite some losses, they are still fighting for their rights."

In the context, Safadi explained: "The Palestinian issue is central to the region and is the source of instability in the region, and the solution that achieves justice and peace will be acceptable because it will achieve stability in the whole region."

He stressed that "negotiations must take place according to an acceptable reference and on the basis of international law and decisions, and in order to achieve this, the occupation must be ended and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people must be confirmed."

He stressed that the Jordanian position has always been with a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as the capital of the independent state of Palestine, pointing out that the Arab peace initiative is the most comprehensive plan for achieving peace.

In an intervention by Prince Turki bin Faisal during the symposium, he said that "Saudi Arabia fully supports the Palestinians and their aspirations, and all propaganda coming from Israel about the Israeli-Saudi coordination and the meetings and others are not true, including talking about a meeting between Netanyahu and Prince Muhammad bin Salman, which was done His denial in a clear statement. "

Bin Faisal continued: "King Salman told President Abu Mazen that Saudi Arabia will support what you want. This is the Saudi position today and yesterday."
