While receiving the Japanese envoy to the peace process

Shtayeh: We will not accept the continued monopoly and exclusivity of American sponsorship of the peace process and negotiations

The Prime Minister Dr. Muhammad Shtayyeh, received today, Tuesday in his office in Ramallah, the Japanese envoy to the Middle East peace process, Masaharu Kono, in the presence of the Japanese ambassador to Palestine Masayuki Maguchi, where he discussed with him the latest developments after the announcement of the century deal from the American administration.

Shtayyeh reiterated his assertion that the Palestinian leadership, headed by President Mahmoud Abbas, rejected the American century deal, especially that it does not include Jerusalem and consider it the capital of Israel, and the eviction of refugees from it, in addition to the lack of real natural geographic communication in the territories of the Palestinian state, and lack of control over borders and land ports.

The Prime Minister stressed that the continuation of the monopoly and exclusivity of the American sponsorship of the peace process and negotiations will not be accepted, calling for the existence of international sponsorship and an international peace conference that includes America in any future negotiations and the resumption of the peace process, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, the Security Council and the Arab Peace Initiative.

For his part, the Japanese envoy expressed his country's continued support for the two-state solution in accordance with the United Nations and Security Council resolutions, and the right of the Palestinian people to decide their own destiny and establish their independent state on the 1967 borders.
