Summary of Key Remarks by Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh Ahead of the Cabinet 174th Meeting

05/09/2022

New Israeli measures related to the entry of foreign passport holders into the occupied Palestinian territory will come into force next month. These measures are racist and aim at curbing Palestinian holders of international nationalities, especially American and European nationalities as well as those who stand in solidarity with Palestine, whether they are volunteers, employees of foreign companies or lecturers at Palestinian universities.

We call upon the United States not to grant Israelis the right to enter the U.S. without a visa if Israel implements these new measures, and not to discriminate between an American of Palestinian origin and others.

We also call on Europe to set conditions that clarify to Israel that it cannot prevent any European citizen from visiting Palestine, regardless of their origin or national roots.

The United States and Europe have pressure tools that can compel Israel to retract these measures. Among many other issues, this issue is a priority in our discussions with the United States.

We call on the United Nations and its member states to firmly stand against Israel’s demolition attack on Palestinian structures, which led to the demolition of 9,000 buildings since 2009 and the displacement of 13,000 Palestinian citizens, especially in occupied Jerusalem. We call on the United Nations, which published the report, to follow up on the consequences of acts mentioned in the report, and file them in the International Criminal Court, including Israel’s responsibility for field executions it practices against our citizens.
