Shtayyeh discusses with the Finnish Foreign Minister support for water and sanitation projects

Prime Minister Dr. Muhammad Shtayyeh seek with the Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto provide technical and financial support for water and sanitation projects in Palestine.

This came during a meeting they gathered today, Thursday, at the 50th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Shtayyeh explained that the reality of the occupation imposed a difficult water situation in Palestine, as Israel controls most of the water resources and uses them to serve settlement, while the Palestinians suffer from severe water shortages.

In the same context, the Prime Minister said: "One of the items that constitute financial bleeding in the public treasury is the money that Israel deducts from the Palestinian tax money instead of treating wastewater, which is transported because of the terrain into the Green Line, and this deduction is done without scrutiny and reaches 15 One million shekels a month. "

The prime minister continued, "The tendency to invest in wastewater treatment will save the money unlawfully discounted by the occupation, and will provide treatment water for a variety of uses in four areas in the north and south."

Shtayyeh also briefed the minister on government programs to expand vocational education and the transformation of the university education system, as well as place it in the form of a strategy for development in clusters and to promote the local product and direct trade exchange with the world to achieve a break from the occupation.

On the political side, Shtayyeh stressed the importance of teamwork to confront the serious Israeli threat to annex parts of the West Bank, and the need to accelerate the recognition of Palestine, as well as the preparation for the post-Trump project, which is still vague, but the measures that preceded it reveal that it does not include the minimum Palestinian rights.
