Ramallah, Tuesday, May 31, 2022 —

“Unimplemented United Nations and Security Council Resolutions Concerning Palestine and the Unresolved Palestinian Conflict are Failures of the International Community”

Meeting representatives of the European Union's missions to the United Nations on Tuesday, at his office in Ramallah, in the presence of the European Union's representative in Palestine, Sven Kühn von Burgsdorff, the Prime Minister of the State of Palestine, Dr. Mohammed Shtayyeh, stressed that:

“Sharing the European Union's vision and belief in the two-state solution and the principles of democracy and peace, we value the EU's position regarding Palestine, its position of rejecting the so-called ‘Deal of the Century,’ and its continued support for us under the blockade siege we face.”

Dr. Shtayyeh briefed the delegation on the recent political developments in Palestine and Israel's continued violations, including the murder of innocent people, arrests, and break-ins into Palestinian areas and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Prime Minister confirmed that the relationship with Israel is the relationship between the population of an occupied country and the occupying power, as it controls all aspects of life and controls all our sources and natural resources.

His Excellency affirmed that Israel had not respected all the reached agreements, which broke down all the peace talks with Israel. Furthermore, he reiterated his calls for the EU to take an active and earnest role regarding the Palestinian cause, putting pressure to bear on Israel to allow elections to be held in Jerusalem in accordance with the agreements reached with it, as previously done.
