Shtayyeh: European recognition of Palestine is necessary in light of the Israeli threats of annexation

Prime Minister Dr. Muhammad Shtayyeh discussed with the Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde, the possibilities of devoting the Swedish strategic plan to help Palestine for the year 2020, to align more closely with the national priorities that the government has set within its strategy, especially the economic empowerment of women and youth as part of their political and social empowerment.

Shtayyeh said, during the meeting that took place on the sidelines of his participation today, Tuesday, at the 50th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland: “"Sweden is a model for European Union countries by recognizing Palestine and turning their political convictions into action."

The Prime Minister continued: "There is a conviction that appeared among the countries of the world to the necessity of saving the two-state solution, at a time when Israel is destroying the possibilities of achieving the two-state solution, with its threats to annex the Jordan Valley and its violations of the signed agreements, as well as in light of the ambiguity of what the American plan holds," noting the importance of inviting a foreign minister Luxembourg, European Union to the common recognition of the State of Palestine and the need to build on it.

On the other hand, Shtayyeh added: "There is a solid political will on the part of President Mahmoud Abbas and all factional and national circles to hold elections to restore democratic radiation to our people, while insisting that Jerusalem be a central part of this process, and this is what Israel ignores," calling for the necessity of Serious pressure on Israel to enable us to do it.
