Dr. Shtayyeh calls up on the EU to support its position against settlements

H.E. Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh, met, today, with a number of Dutch parliament members and political activist at his office in Ramallah. Where he called the EU member states to take measures consistent with its solid position supporting the two states solution, and to oblige Israel to abide by the International Law, especially those decisions related to settlements.

During the meeting, H.E. also affirmed to the guests from the Dutch People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (Dutch DVV), the necessity of not allowing Israel to violate the International law and the UN resolutions.

In this context, Dr Shtayyeh outlined some measures that could be taken by the European Parliament, such as boycotting settlements` products (and not only labeling it). As well as not allowing Israeli Settlers, who hold European passports to illegally reside in the Palestinian territories.

He also stressed on the need to expedite the United Nations Human Rights Council to publish a list of the Israeli International Companies that work and provide services to settlements in the occupied territories, noting that their publication will give a great boost to the possibility of addressing settlement and the eliminating its financial sources.

The Prime Minister concluded the meeting by briefing the delegation on the Palestinian endeavors to achieve the gradual disengagement from the economy of the occupation, and the efforts to strengthen the Palestinian national product and to abolish the boundaries between the Palestinian territories  imposed by Israelis and divides the land into (A, B, and C).

It is worth mentioning that the Palestinian government mainly depends on its cluster based development strategy to achieve the disengagement from the Israeli economy and to enhance communication with the Arab depth.
