The Palestinian Cabinet praises the outcomes of the ministerial delegation’s official visit to Iraq, affirms that Palestinian refugees in Iraq would attain their full rights and promises to improve their situation, condemns the killing of prisoner Nassar Taqtqa during interrogation inside Israeli prison.

In his opening statement, during the weekly Cabinet meeting held in Ramallah today, Prime Minister Dr. Mohammed Shtayyeh praised the outcomes of the official visit of the Palestinian ministerial delegation to the Republic of Iraq as part of the government's strategy to gradually disengage from the occupation under the directions and supervisions of President Mahmoud Abbas. Prime Minister Dr. Shtayyeh expressed his sincere gratitude to the President, Government and people of Iraq for the political and economic strategic support they provide to Palestine.

Dr. Shtayyeh briefed his government on the outcomes of his visit to Iraq, which included reaching agreement on the establishment of joint companies between the private and public sectors of both countries, and enhancing cooperation with Iraqi ministries through a joint committee. On their part, Iraqi leaders affirmed that their country will fulfill its financial obligations to Palestine as it previously pledged to the Arab League.

In addition to that, Prime Minister Dr. Shtayyeh pointed out that one of the most important outcomes of this visit is the Iraqi assurance to grant Palestinian refugees in Iraq their full rights and improve their situation. Dr. Shtayyeh also not that the bilateral meetings between the two countries discussed several issues, especially imports, exports, investments, agriculture and energy, as well as opening Palestinian banks in Iraq.

Dr. Shtayyeh expressed his appreciation to Iraqi President Barham Salih, Prime Minister Adel Abdul- Mahdi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Al- Halbousi for their warm welcome.

In a different context, the Palestinian Cabinet condemned the killing of Nassar Tqatqa, held Israel fully responsible for his killing during interrogation, and called upon international and legal authorities to take urgent and immediate action to investigate the crimes of the occupation.

Moreover, the Cabinet ratified the accession of the State of Palestine to the Regional Intelligence Liaison Office- Rilo, and adopting the purchase of GPS devices for the Ministry of Local Government.

Finally, the Cabinet decided to entrust President Mahmoud Abbas with the establishment of a government investment and development bank and adopted October 26th a national day for Palestinian women.
