The Cabinet calls on Palestine Monetary Authority, universities, and telecommunications companies to commensurate their receivables with the salaries of employees, announces that the beginning of the academic year is as scheduled, and decides to hire 1700 new teachers and to grant 1145 teachers on temporary contracts a permanent employment.

In his opening statement, ahead of the weekly Cabinet meeting held in Ramallah today, Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh stated that the government called on the Monetary Authority, universities and telecommunications companies to commensurate their receivables with the salaries of employees as part of sharing the burden of the financial crisis imposed by the occupation.

Dr. Shtayyeh announced that the government is in the process of hiring 1700 new teachers and granting 1145 teachers on temporary contracts a permanent employment, in agreement with the Ministries of Finance and Education.

The Prime Minister once again expressed his appreciation to the military, security and civilian cadres whether teachers, workers in health or services sectors for their steadfastness and patience during the current crisis. In this regard, Dr. Shatyyeh called on citizens to buy from Palestinian markets and support our national product on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha instead of purchasing from Israeli markets. “We guided the security services cadre to seriously follow up on corrupt and smuggled goods to the Palestinian territories and to impose severe sanctions on the perpetrators,” Dr. Shtayyeh said.

In terms of political affairs, Prime Minister Dr. Shtayyeh told that the occupation authorities attack, demolish and violate our cities and villages in areas A, B and C, on a daily basis. “Israel does not respect any of the signed agreements and deals with the entire occupied Palestinian territory as Area C. Accordingly, we will deal with all the lands belonging to the State of Palestine as Area A, including occupied East Jerusalem,” Dr. Shtayyeh added.

Dr. Shtayyeh stressed that the Palestinian leadership and President Abbas reject both statements of the US Administration on the American plan to deal with the two-state solution and talks on autonomy to ensure Israel’s security. “The Palestinian citizens have rights to fight for and can bring the whole world together. All international conventions and resolutions confirm this. Nobody has the right to deprive our citizens of their political rights to establish an independent state,” Dr. Shtayyeh clarified.

Finally, Dr. Shtayyeh praised the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz for his hospitality in hosting a 1000 pilgrims of Palestinian martyrs’ families to perform Pilgrimage 'Hajj’ rituals this year and stressed the importance of Saudi Arabia in supporting our issue.
